It’s been five years, and by God’s grace, the Lord has allowed us to remain a ministry committed to deep, expository preaching. Yet many of you still know very little about me. My identity goes beyond the simple title of “Pastor.” My name is Anthony Davis, and I live in a town called Pahrump, Nevada. I am married to my wife, Michelle, and together we have a blended family of five children, each now with a family of their own. We are also grandparents to 12 grandchildren.
Altar Fellowship Ministries was born out of a deep desire to see God’s truth clearly proclaimed—far beyond what I had witnessed in many of the churches I attended in the past, and in response to the common errors I observed there. The lack of sound biblical precepts and understanding in movements such as Pentecostalism, Prosperity teaching, Black Liberation Theology, and Oneness theology—each of which can be spiritually devastating—became a driving force behind the formation of this ministry. Some might assume that Covid-19 was the catalyst, but it was not. The true reason was the compelling call to share the truth of God’s Word in a way that is illuminated and made clear by the Holy Spirit.
I am ordained by God through Christ. He is the Caller of the called. Also, I am a member of the National Association of Christian Ministers, and believe it or not, I have not attended any formal seminary. Many believers have, and I have no issue with them for it. But through disciplined fellowship with other true believers, precept-driven study, and, most importantly, the leading of the Holy Spirit, I have grown into a deeper knowledge of Christ—a knowledge I am still actively learning and growing in every single day, as all true believers should.
I preach the Word of God by way of induction: a line upon line, precept upon precept approach focused on helping people understand His Word in its proper context, rather than through cherry-picked verses or stitched-together ideas that may, at best, simply make us feel good. My constant reminder is that “the text is the sermon,” meaning the Word of God itself is my preparation for Sunday—not a patchwork of subjective, topical jargon that leaves hearers untouched, without true contrition or conviction.
As Charles Spurgeon stated, “We do not enter the pulpit to talk for talk’s sake; we have instructions to convey, important to the last degree, and we cannot afford to utter pretty nothings.” As a pastor, my goal is not merely to speak or stir emotions, but to be led by the Spirit to proclaim the truth in a loving, theologically rich way—a way in which the message becomes a seed planted in the hearts of those who hear.
We have been entrusted with a sacred calling: to proclaim the Word of God—divine instruction that, when embraced, protects believers from being intellectually deprived of the truth and draws them into a deep, living engagement with it. This Word is not mere information; it is power, able to transform hearts, renew minds, and reshape lives.
Jesus declared, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Because of this, every sermon I preach is centered on who He is—His character, His mercy, His authority, and His love—so that every hearer might see Him by faith and be drawn back to the Father through Him.
This is the heartbeat of Altar Fellowship Ministries. This is the heartbeat of my life and calling: to be a humble servant of God, embracing the challenge and the privilege of being a fisher of men, inviting all who will hear to encounter Christ, follow Him wholeheartedly, and be forever changed.
Grace and Peace to you and yours.
Pastor Anthony and AFM.
